Swedish Relaxation Massage is a deeply relaxing, therapeutic style of bodywork. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, greater flexibility and so much more. This style of bodywork uses light to medium pressure to induce deep relaxation within the body and mind.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment. Plenty of water should be ingested to aid in rehydration and reduce muscle soreness.
*Although Deep Tissue work can sometimes require deep pressure, that isn't always the case. Typically, I begin by gently and gradually working through each layer of muscle tissue. This can take a bit of time depending on each persons specific needs, body type, daily habits and how much time has passed since your last massage. If you are currently experiencing pain, tension or discomfort, my recommendation would be to start off with weekly or biweekly appointments. From there, monthly maintenance massages are ideal. I recommend starting with a 90 or 120 minute massage session.*
Cupping Therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine where glass or silicone cups are placed on the skin for a few minutes to create suction. The cups are applied in a variety of ways to produce the desired effect. Benefits of Cupping Therapy may include but are not limited to: promotes blood flow, decreases pain and inflammation, reduces muscle tension and tightness, and promotes relaxation.
Cupping Therapy can leave temporary marks on the skin as it draws blood to the skin's surface. Marking can be avoided by moving the cups frequently rather than leaving them in one place for a few minutes. If marking is a concern for you, please mention it to me before we begin the session.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy or surgery, and strengthened resistance to illness. Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is also great for relieving sinus pressure and allergy and cold symptoms.
*Before any Lymphatic Drainage Therapy session, I will need written approval from your doctor if you are pregnant, have or have had cancer or are recovering from surgery. Thank you!
Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet and hands. Unlike other foot/hand massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet/hands themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet and hands. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, depression and so much more.
Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.
